Krieg Eterna

Tower

Strength: 1

Type: Siege Unit

Effect Text: Add one base strength to up to two other units in this row.

Flavor Text: "It is said if a man ascended the tower, he could bathe in the dew of heaven. Here is what remains of their arrogance."

Artwork: Italian Coast Scene with Ruined Tower by Thomas Cole (1838)

Strategy:

Tower is a support unit primarily used to create adjacency. Remember that it can modify up to two units, but doesn’t have to (none, one, or both are all valid choices). Also, you can change which units are modified at any time; it may be helpful to have the card partially overlapping with the other cards it is currently modifying.

About the card:

The flavor text was inspired by Ted Chiang's Tower of Babylon short story in which the biblical Tower of Babel has been constructed over eons of labor and pilgrims will spend their entire lives to carry one brick up the tower. If you get a chance read his anthology Stories of Your Life and Others, it is filled with thought provoking fiction and is generally accessible. His story Seventy-Two Letters where scientists can make machines from clay golems is particularly fascinating, and in general, Chiang is excellent at weaving and extending the myths of our world into new and interesting stories.
